Welcome to the Harare Chapter of the Christian Legal Society
The Christian Legal Society - Harare Chapter (CLSHC) is an organisation consisting of Christian Lawyers, Judges and Magistrates practicising their profession as such in the city of Harare, Zimbabwe. The organisation is concerned with inter alia, the spread of the Gospel of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in the legal sector. We have united for the sake of promoting and improving Christianity in the legal sector and more effectively ministering to the spiritual welfare of persons in the legal sector. You can be a member on line. Ourconstitution, adopted in November 2001 defines the constituency of the Christian Legal Society Harare Chapter as "the Harare area and its surroundings in the Republic of Zimbabwe." The official launch of the Christian Legal Society Harare Chapter shall be soon. Log onto this site during the second wek of January 2002 for further information on this important event in our calender.

Our Objectives...
The objectives of the Christian Legal Society - Harare Chapter are:
1. To proclaim Jesus as Lord through all that is done in the field of law;
2. To provide a means of society, fellowship and nurture among christian judges, lawyers, magistrates and law students.
3. To encourage christian judges, lawyers and students to view law as a ministry.
4. To clarify and promote the concept of the Christian judge, magistrate lawyer or law student and to help them intergrate thier faith with thier professional lives.
5. To mobilise at the national and local levels, the resources needed to promote justice, religious liberty and biblical conflict reconciliation.
6. To encourage, desciple and aid Christian students in preparing for the legal profession.
7. To provide a forum for the discussion of problems and opportunities relatingto christianity and the law.
8. To co-operate with Bar Associations and other organisations in asserting and maintaining high standards of ethics.
9. To encourage judges, magistrates, lawyers and law students to furnish legal services to the poor and needy, and grant special consideration to the legal needs of churches and other charitable organisations.
10. To encourage and facilitate dialogue between the government and civic society and other organisations.
11. To encourage and facilitate dialogue between the government and international organisations, other governments, multinationals and transnational corporations.

We believe in the triune God, the Father, son and Holy Spirit. We believe that the Bible is inspired by the Holy Spirit and in all its statements and is the final authority on all doctrinal matters.
THEREFORE WE CONFESS:
1. God the Father is the creator and preserver of all.2. Jesus christ, the true man and true God, is the Son of God. He is born of the virgin Mary and He has substitutionarily shed His blood on the cross for the sins of the whole world.He is bodily resurected and has returned into the glory of God. He sits at the right hand of God and will manifestly return.3. God has sent his Holy Spirit into the world, so that He may open the eyes of man in respect of sin, and of righteousness and of judgement, and that He may reveal the whole divine truth of God's redeemed.4. Human nature is sinful. Only owing to the redemption through the blood of Jesus can man by conversion, and his being born again be justified before God.,p>5. The redeemed will rise from the dead in glory to eternal life; those who are not redeemed will pass into everlasting destruction.6. All those who are born again constitute the church the "Body of Christ."7. For the church the missionary command of Jesus is valid and binding: "Go therefore to all nations and make them my disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy ghost; teaching them to observe all the things i have commanded you"(Mathew 28:19-20)

Christian Lawyers?
"Lawyers like politcians can never be honest", said one television clown. "Having a christian lawyer is like having an honest politician!" Lawyers are often regarded as liers and never to be trusted. They are sometimes accused of being too clever and a half and society naturally distrusts them. This view is wholley wrong. "For God so loved the world..." includes lawyers. It is possible for lawyers to be good disciples of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. We do not claim to be perfect..indeed there is no perfection for all have sinned and fallen short of the Lord's Glory. This is a faithfully saying, that christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners of whom we are chief. We lawyers too, are capable of Salvation and everlasting redemption. Indeed we are christian lawyers and labour for the Glory of God in Jesus' name!

A new era has dawned
A new day is born. It is the day that the Lord has made and we Christian lawyers shall labour for the Glory of God. To the Triune Father be all the Glory in His Son Jesus Christ through whom we have eternal redemption.
